Since I was a little kid I was told that my Dad's side of the family owned the land that is now Baltimore, MD.

Couldn't they have held on to a block or two? I'm convinced that my forebearers were the most short-sighted people on the planet.

The same guy who brought the mules back to Missouri also later bought and then sold Mare Island in San Francisco Bay which later became a major Naval shipbuilding facility.

I recently found a record of a horse trader. Those guys were the used car salesmen of their day.

Unfortunately, not so true. Perpetual untruths about my family line exist there.

The LDS site does have a lot of misinformation. I do like the 1880 census that is available now, haven't found any misnomers yet. What I really don't appreciate is their "sealed" records.
