I had ancestors /family serve in a few of the wars. Revolutionary, War 1812, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, possibly the French-Indian but do not have conclusive details.
Does the Trail of Tears count?
My great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather was a Patriot. I'm sure of my other ancestors that lived around that time probably were, but I find no evidence.
I've also had some ancestors and relatives in the Civil War, on both sides.
My great-grandfather signed up for World War I, but he got the Spanish Flu at Camp Funston. He survived it, but he was discharged. He never actually saw action.
I know some of my ancestors were in American Revolutionary War, Civil War and the Spanish-American War. Maybe in time, I will find out more, there are some huge brick walls with a few lines stopping in the late 1800s.
My great, great grandfather was full blooded indian, and fought in the Civil War, because a white man paid him to fight for him in the 14th Regimen in New York.
One grandfather served during WWII though from the limited information I have he was a military cook and was only in the US. He suffered some sort of injury while on base, the story I had heard was there was a power outage on base and he got hit by a car and injured his leg. He was discharged (honorably) so he never went oversees from what I understand but he really didn't share much at all, in fact all I currently have came from my grandmother after he died.
His grandfather (my 2nd great grandfather) served in the civil war on both sides. He was born and died in Arkansas and was drafted by the Confederates (by gunpoint). After training he went home to check on his family and never came back and enlisted in the Union (have found records on both sides to support the stories told in fact).
Beyond that I have multiple ancestors that fought in the Civil War on both sides in many different states.
I have quite a few that I've traced that served in the American Revolution, at least 10+, possibly more like 20+. Which is to be expected if you have a lot of colonial American ancestry. The two most interesting were one that served in Washington's Life Guard and another was a Colonel.
