Where in the world do you find boxes? (movers, U-Haul, very expensive)

I know you can order them online, but they're very expensive. You used to be able to get boxes from stores and business, but it seems, no more!! I can get some from work but it's a slow process and I need some now. (I'm finding medium works best - anything larger gets waay too heavy!)
I bought a bunch for my move and they worked pretty well, not the heaviest weight box but they held up. The nice thing was I bought way too many and just returned the unused ones.
I've always found buying them from self-storage facilities to be the easiest thing. Nearly every business around here is required to either crush or break down their boxes, so finding free ones means hours and hours of driving around town, and what I do manage to salvage usually isn't very good quality. It's less hassle to just go and plunk down $30 and buy one of their kits--4 large boxes, 6 medium, 12 small, etc.
Buying boxes makes things go smoother with the movers too. If you scavenge for boxes you will end up with a bunch of random sizes, of varying quality. They won't stack well and some may start to crush and tip over during the moving process. That adds up to hassle and frustration for the movers--which means more cost for you. If you buy a kit of new boxes, you get what you need quickly without having to search all over, and they are sturdy and uniform sizes for easy stacking.
Of all the costs of moving, IMO buying the boxes is well worth the investment.
We use rubbermaid tubs, they store perfectly after unpacked and can be used for any number of things during the year. They don't fall apart like cardboard boxes, stack well and are easy to carry.
Craigslist is always good. I know some grocery stores will give you produce boxes for free...you just have to ask. Apple boxes usually work best (and aren't as gross as some others). We always use those for kitchen things and random odds and ends.
U-Haul has some good prices. The stores where I live get money for turning in their cardboard so you can't get anything from them anymore. Just think of it as an investment and keep them for next time.
