I'm interested in hearing from people who have relocated to parts of the U.S. that are very different from where they're from (i.e. East to West Coast, NE to SE, Midwest to Southwest, etc.) or even people who have moved out of country from the U.S. Obviously it can be quite a culture shock for people who aren't already familiar with the area to which they are moving, but I'd like to know more. Where did you move to and from? Were most of the people there welcoming and friendly to outsiders, or skeptical and rude? Did you adjust to the differences quickly? What about picking up any new accents or lifestyle changes? Any other information? Please share your experiences!
I moved from Cleveland,Ohio to Colorado Springs,Colorado. The people here aren't as friendly as they were in Ohio.I haven't really tried to adjust to the differences because I don't plan on staying in Colorado. My lifestyle hasn't really changed since moving to Colorado.I still like the same things Basketball,Football, computers, watching DVDs.I don't ski or snowboard or any of that stuff alot people do in Colorado.Im not a big fan of the Great Plains/Southwest region of the country.I like the Northeast and Midwest.
Moved from Chicago to Orlando to San Diego. Couldn't stand Florida, bad weather, intense heat/humidity, right wing politics, shallow people and I can go on. People seldom change anywhere you move, the majority of the public is only concerned with their own well-being, in total you're a stranger and the people around you are strangers, most appear to want to keep it that way. Sad but true. Lifestyle hasn't changed too much, just getting out and doing more things like cycling, jogging, roller blading, swimming etc... and that's due to the beautiful S.California weather. Chicago was a wonderful place to live in for many reasons but I've moved on. I don't think that you'll see any "major" changes anywhere you move within the U.S. Of course, if you're moving from a rural community to a big city, than sure, but going from one city or one suburb to the next don't expect much. In my travels I found people and their attitudes to be quite the same, sometimes there's a change of weather and cost of living but it's not going to be overly dramatic.
