Okay so I am new here and this is my first post but I am lost at the moment, completely mentally drained. I currently live in a VERY small town in the Pine Barrens of NJ. Basically I don't fit in - I have orange dreadlocks, do tattoos, I am not racist, I'm open-minded to all religions, I don't judge people based on appearance, I don't do drugs and I want my kids to have the best education available. I am the only one here like that.... I NEED to get away from all this, but have no idea where to go. I want to stay within driving distance of the ocean and be in a decent area with real schools, more than 1 school for the whole town. I have to move with 3 kids so I'm thinking the Eastern seaboard. I tattoo so a job is always nearby Hoping to move within next 8 months, any suggestions for a weirdo like me?

Gee I don't know. I'm trying to think of all the places that would actually WELCOME someone with orange dreadlocks with OPEN ARMS, but all I can come up with is just the open arms dreadlock communities. Sorry.

Baltimore? I don't know much about the eastern seaboard to give advice but if you can give up living seaside there are plenty of more open minded liberal places in the U.S.

While San Francisco is expensive, it certainly would meet your other criteria. And you could always live in the East Bay and cut your livng costs and yet still be close to the city.

As much as I would LOVE to move out to Cali... It's really just not feasible right now, believe me- I've thought about that!!! Lol Vegas would be awesome To visit but I don't know that I could live there my main priority is my 3 girls, they need a better school and environment that allows for more personal growth. I was figuring that this forum had people from all over that might have serious suggestions, I am not part of a traveling freak show, I'm just not Martha Stewart Lol.

Myrtle Beach

Florida? Daytona area? I know there are those biker conventions and spring breakers, so I'm thinking they are a little used to the "wild side"?

Pensacola, FL? The military base is there....might be a lot of tatto work? (OK, I am grasping at straws, here).

Myrtle Beach, SC? SC overall is very conservative but the beach communities might be more open-minded.

Other places not on the beach: Atlanta, GA; Asheville, NC (has a hippie vibe).

Maine. Vermont. Isn't Vermont kinda socially liberal?

Good luck finding where you "fit in".
