Good post! I am considering doing the same in a few years. For me, quality of life means alot.

I would go. We are in NY also, and send our kids to a private school. We are moving without jobs maybe at the end of the school year. Why ; because it is so expensive here, the quality of life just is not here anymore for us and we would like a change of pace.

The 5% you will be taking will be fine as taxes are less in most other states.

We are moving to where the public schools are great, cost of living is decent and housing is much cheaper. Hopefully dh can get a transfer, if not, we are ok.

do you work for one of the big accounting firms
we are being transferred this summer
my dh is a cpa
their version of a suggested transfer is not really a choice
