Has anyone ever moved to a new city that was really far from where they originally lived on their own? meaning, you had NO ONE with you. What was it like? Was it hard? Did you regret it???
I am considering doing this but I find it very scary. I have moved to another state on my own before but it wasn't very far (45 minutes away) and there was no culture shock. It was no different from my homestate.
I moved from New England to Maui. It was a big change, but one I wanted and I don't regret it for a minute. I enjoy change, like meeting new people, trying new things. It can be scary, plan for all you can and jump in with both feet if it feels right to you.

Right after I graduated high school in Glendale, Arizona, I enlisted in the army and moved to Alabama for basic training and then New Jersey for AIT. I loved being away from home on my own. Mind you, it was a different world back then. But I had never been one to rely on anyone for anything.
whatever it was, it was not far enough. do they have a forum for people" who move far away from dysfunctional familysituations but forget to get an unlisted number afterwards?"
It means starting over, starting anew, making new friends, discovering new things. It's hard at times but thousands of people move a long way from their hometown every day. It can be done.
Grew up in Minneapolis, moved to Houston area 21 years ago.
