Would you like to move to Australia? In recent years there has been a increase in number of Americans moving to Australia. Many of course on working visas.

More Americans are moving to Australia, especially those with degrees in mining and engineering, two sectors that are facing a severe skills shortage.

Substantial increase in number of US citizens moving to Australia

I would love to visit but don't need to live there. Nothing against Australia, just don't want to leave the US of A.

I moved FROM Australia to the United States. Honestly, I have no intention of moving back. The cost of living in the United States is SO much lower, and I just feel that my quality of life here is far premier to Australia (mainly due to the lower cost of living).

Over the years though, I've heard a LOT of Americans tell me that they want to move to Australia... but most of the time they've never even been, and have no idea how "good" they have it over here.

I spent 3 months there once and loved it but have no desire to move there but mainly b/c it's so far away from friends and family. Also, I think I could not get used to the flies--I must have "eaten" 5 of them while I was there. It was certainly beautiful there though and I would go back for a visit if I could.

A few years ago I applied for a Green Card for the USA and I was eligible for it as it is easy for Australians to get one. I did not go through the process of it as I discovered the unemployment problem is bigger in America than here as well as I could not be too far from family. I of course would not mind living in America yet it more of a place to visit for me than live.

I believe Australia is a nice place to live. But I wouldn't want to live there. I don't see the need. We have California and Florida for everything Australia has. I would just like to visit.

I spent 6 months in Australia many years ago and I would welcome the chance to stay there again for an extended period of time.

I've had the fortune to travel to many cities in Australia: Perth, Freemantle, Esperance, Adelaide, Brisbane, Victoria (Melbourne).

Based on the people, culture, and standard of living I experienced in all my time there, I would move there in a heartbeat. My only reluctance would be the reversal of seasons. I just can't imagine having Christmas in the summer, and school out in the winter.

I'd love to live in Cairns. Don't know if I would spend the rest of my life there but I'd give it a try.

And I would be forced to get rid of all my 'stuff'. That's a good thing!

No desire to live there - wouldn't mind a visit though.
