We're moving. We have movers coming to pick all our stuff up and cars. We will be flying to our destination. We never did this kind of move before. Should we pack special things for our move to take with us on plane. Like sheets, towels etc?
We have a rental waiting for us and plan to move in the day we fly in. Any suggestions? I know we have a total of two free checked bags. But are willing to take up to four checked in bags if we have to.
Our movers cannot give us an exact date yet as to when they will arrive at the destination.
Any advice on what to take with us besides clothes etc?
thanks
I would just buy new sheets/towells (one set of sheets / few towells) when I get there the cost of the extra bags, will be more then the value of the 'old' sheets/towells. Pack all the 'old' sheet/towells cycling out the real old ones.
Only take with you those items that can't easily be bought new (or used) at the new location. Prescription drugs, etc. (BTW, if bed is coming by truck, what are you going to put the sheets on ??) Kitchen items can be bought as needed at local thrift shop (Goodwill, etc)
I would suggest taking any paperwork you need or cannot replace (birth certificates, marriage license, house closing papers, etc.) anything of monetary value is not guaranteed to come to your house either. This would include but not limited to collections (stamp collections, gun collections, penny collections, WI or Xbox-games included,etc.). Make sure you take any prescription drugs with you that you are taking or have taken that will be moved. Things like these somehow come up missing when moving. If you have anything that is flammable or under pressure ex:matches, candles, gas, cleaners-bathroom aerosol cans(air fresheners)-hairspray- the movers usually cannot take these for insurance purposes. When they come to evaluate the house they should tell you these things and at the end of the move when everything is on the truck you sign a sheet indicating this. Have fun on your new adventure.
Thanks 3a for this list.
just found out we can check in 6 bags for free on the plane. We already had the evaluation for the movers. So we're good to go. Can't wait to get out of here and start our lives.
