Have you thought about paying someone to drive the car for you ? A relative, perhaps ? A longgg time ago, while a student, I used to do long-distance auto moving. I loved it. Put an ad on craigslist; offer to pay a fee + travel expenses. It might work out better than a moving service.

Our Allied mover, A Mrazek of St. Louis MO did all that for us. They found the shipper, and everything went smoothly. I cannot guarantee we got the cheapest rate, but the ease of this was very appealing while we handled other, labor intensive chores.

The fact that the mover would do this for us, was a major factor in our choosing them for our move.
