I see a lot of information regarding tipping the movers--but we we will have 2 crews. The packers to pack up the entire house and then a different crew comes the following days to load.
We will also have a company coming to crate the tv, glass patio table, unhook our washer and dryer and disassemble our gym equipment.
What should I tip the packers? We have a 3100 square foot house, 3 kids but I actually don't have a lot of stuff. I am an anti-hoarder.
What about the crate/ disassemble people? Do they deserve a tip too?
And then the movers?--Note: We will have a different set of movers unloading in our new location--different state.
This is going to get very expensive. I am thinking $100 for the packing crew to split evenly. $100 for the loaders and $0 for the crating company people because they will only be here for a short time.
I am planning to buy everyone lunch and provide waters & soft drinks throughout the day.
Why do you think they need a tip? They get paid to do their jobs which is what they are doing, they are not like restaurant staff who work mainly for tips. I have never tipped anyone who works for the company I hired to help pack, load, move or unload. I personally see no need for it.
Like waitresses ,hairdressers, and bell boys/persons, these people aren't paid very big wages and I think they appreciate tips very much to help pay their bills. Some of those items are very heavy or delicate and I think a good job deserves a tip. Give them what you can afford and are comfortable with.
