I have been purging for years but want to make one more push to minimize before moving & downsizing.
My late husband had 2 sheds & garage packed full and I am excited about almost being thru it all !!
My daughter wants to do a yard sale with me which would help me get rid of lots of stuff fast.
We would just donate what isn't sold, and the date of the sale looming makes me haul stuff out like a crazy woman.
Here is the question...I don't have time to properly set up a ton of tables and display stuff neatly...
How do you feel if you go to a moving sale and the prices are great but stuff is
spread all over on tarps..You have to look down on ground level to shop..
Honestly I would put an ad for Moving Give Away if I weren't afraid of too many people..
Just had a moving sale and people didn't seem to mind tarps on the ground. I'm terrible at pricing stuff and haggling with people. We sold about 75 bucks of misc junk and I did manage to sell the snowblower to our neighbor which was a nice sale. What amazed me were people showing up half an hour early to get the good stuff which obviously wasn't that much on my end, lol. People would haggle getting an item down 50 cents. I think that if I had someone helping, it probably would have gone smoother.
Going to donate the rest of the stuff to a charity that comes by to pick up.

I know what you mean!! We are trying to get much lighter but stuff has accumulated over 30 years. Add in two kids now with their stuff, furniture, it gets bulky. Fortunately I've been doing quite a bit of pruning over the years too. Always happy to find our stuff good homes. Our neighbor is taking in 10 years of National Geographics my husband likes to collect!!
After our last yard sale, we gave everything to our local Community Hospice. They had certain days that they would be in the area, so we scheduled it. It was great. They loaded it all and we didn't have to do anything except open the garage door.
Just call around to places that take donations and ask if they do pick-ups.
A lot of this is dirty garage tools and stuff that men love but I am not sure a charity would want..
At the last yard sale we all laughed at a tool no one knew what was, every man coming through
picked it up and played with it til someone finally knew what it was and bought it..
