I have moved to many places, and every time is the same thing, I hate it for the first 6 months and than I start to enjoy it and I miss it after leave the place that I used to hate. So, my advise give your self at least 6 months.
shortest was June 2011 - April 2012 - 10 months - moved to So Cal for husbands promotion - I couldn't find a federal government job there - he was eligible for retirement - I got offered a position in AZ and did the move. He was in CA 2/2011 - 3/2013 - I believe it was one of his shortest moves as well.
After living in South Florida for (18) years, I moved back to Milwaukee (where I grew up) in late April of this year.. I moved back to Florida mid July...
It was expensive, but I HAD to do it... "You can't go home" applies to me big time!
3 months. I got a great deal on a house in 1994 that someone had been murdered in two years prior. I decided that this was not an issue and moved in. Nothing happened during the first week but slowly things turned demonic and I couldn't take it anymore. I moved out and lost a fortune because I sold it for the half the price I bought it for.
3 months. I pre purchased a condo in a high rise before it was built (2years early) and then hated it after moving in. Just didn't like being sandwiched in like that. So I rented it out and moved back to a SFH.
3 weeks.
I would wake up every morning and the cabinet door under the sink would be open. I would close it. The next morning, open again. I started to think I was crazy or something. Finally knew I wasn't, it was rats! Couldn't get out of there fast enough.
It was terrible.
They tried to hold me to the lease but that was strange too.
Earlier while still looking for an apartment, I talked to a tenant in a different building who told me at one time his apartment had rats and they would try to get into his bird's cage.
This was still fresh in my mind when getting ready to sign the lease for the apartment I moved into so I stipulated on the lease that it would be broken if there were rats, mice or roaches. Thinking this would make them turn me down if there were any but they accepted the lease. The nightmare followed.
