Can anyone tell me how many locks you need for the bulkhead for the ABF trailer? The only piece of information I've found is that Lock shank size should be 2" minimum length and 1/4" or smaller diameter. Additionally, has anyone locked the outside of the trailer until they picked it up? If so, what size lock did you use?

Piggy backing on this as I was just doing research on the same basic issue.

We're renting a Penske truck - 16 foot - and I was researching locks for it.

Also, if golden doesn't mind too much - we're towing a car. I was wondering how one keeps a car trailer from being unhitched and the car just stolen that way.

Thanks!

I don't believe you can lock the very back of the trailer with your own lock as ABF ends up adding freight to any space you don't use. For some reason I am thinking that my hubby used two locks for the bulkhead. We loved the ABF experience and highly recommend it!

As to the Penske move, when parking, place the unit where you cannot remove the trailer ( parking against a wall, etc).

I dont think you would need a lock for the bulkhead.Abf is a very good company with very good and honest drivers. But for the peace of mind you can request a bulkhead that you can lock it.
