Say you got a job in both of these places, which pays you around 90 K. Where would you rather live.

A place with year round cool weather or year round hot weather.

What other factors would influence your decision.

I would choose Vancouver. I like cool and cloudy weather with lots of refreshing scenery. Summers with low humidity are awesome. I like hiking a lot, and love rail fanning in the mountains.

The difference in housing affordability between Miami and Vancouver is amazing. For a $90K income, you can live well in Miami. In Vancouver, you are renting PART of a house. Cost of living is atrocious in Vancouver. My son lived there and know from his experience.

Also, it is a rain forest. Mostly cloudy, a lot of rain, etc. Go there and vacation.

Finally, you can't just up and move to Vancouver. Canada has put a halt on out-of-country hires due to local unemployment issues.

Truth.

Canada, like America, has chosen not to hire Americans.

Out of the two, easily prefer Miami. However, if I was going for year round temperature with low variation, I'd rate San Diego much higher. Much closer to the mountains.

Um, I am talking about Vancouver near Portland. Not the one in Canada. If it were in Canada, I would specifically say Vancouver BC.

I think you could live well in Vancouver, WA on $90,000. I prefer Vancouver to Miami, for sure. But others would prefer the sunnier climate of Miami.

There are disadvantages to living here. Shopping is mediocre, much of Vancouver resembles a big suburb, downtown is really run down and dead during the week. But everyone here is so nice. And of course you can shop in Portland.

It all depends on what you want and what you like.

Adi,
You didn't mention where you are now. Or where else you have lived. And how much you hated or loved those places.

Personally I would do Vancouver over Miami 100 to 1. The pacific northwest is gorgeous! Miami is HOT.

I choose Vancouver for much the same reasons as the OP said.
