Getting ready for our long-distance move. Will need to clean the house once the movers are gone, make the three-day drive directly to the house and live there (cheaply) while we make sure the new house is clean and a few (pink) rooms are painted before the movers arrive with our stuff. Other than your usual clothes and travel toiletries, what items are on YOUR last out, first in list?
-toilet brush (use, toss, then buy new on arrival)
-toilet bowl cleaner (use, toss, rebuy)
-Clorox wipes (use, give to neighbor, then rebuy)
-white vinegar (use, toss, rebuy)
-Magic erasers (use and toss the disintegrating ones, use the better ones on arrival)
-reusable cleaning cloths (use and toss the really old, ratty ones, use the better ones on arrival)
-handsoap (leave behind and buy new)
-toilet paper (leave behind and buy new)
-paper towels (leave behind and buy new)
-trash bags
-swiffer mop
-vacuum
-step ladder
-measuring tape
-painter's tape/blank paper (to make signs for movers/hubby)
-clock radio
-house phone
-computer, mouse, keyboard (gotta have it for work)
-wireless internet cords/cables/router/etc.
-air mattress
-sheets/blanket
-pillows
-kitchen and bath towels
-folding chairs
-1 pot and 1 pan
-cooking spatula and spoon
-corkscrew & bottle opener

variety of picnic supplies--cups, plastic flatware, paper plates, napkins...we do not like to eat from the pots and pans and a sharp knife for cutting vegetables, etc.
Oh, forgot to say before...proof of rabies and other shots for pets, and kids immunization records, birth certificates, medical cards. Just in case I need them.
We packed the couch, bed, washer and dryer at the back, along with the TV and cables. That way we had the basics along with the usual stuff mentioned earlier.
Toolbox - we ended up needing screwdrivers, a wrench, and a hammer at various points in the load/unload truck phase (putting together furniture, etc).
Notepad and pen - always stuff I wanted to remind myself (usually things to buy for new home)
Ziplocs - I used these for small things, like storing the screws from the bed frame and the picture hangars.
Bubble bath - I deserved it after all the hard work
I didn't bother setting aside any pots and pans, etc - we got takeout the first few nights so that we didn't have to worry about cooking in addition to everything else.
