I have been beating my head trying to figure out my next career move and figured maybe some unbiased advice would be helpful. I'm an early 40's Veteran (been out of the service for over a decade), who just completed a one-year paralegal certification who also has a radio broadcasting and entertainment background. I'm currently in the St. Petersburg, FL area. I have decided after returning to Florida for a few years (I grew up in Central Florida) that I want to move away for good. I am single, unattached and don't have any kids. As far as what I might be looking for, I would prefer a place without humidity and somewhere with rents less than $700. Studio apartments are fine. Size isn't that big of an issue for living space. I've always enjoyed the West Coast more (lived in Southern California and Wyoming) but don't know if I can afford Cali and Wyoming isn't busy enough. I am not totally opposed to the Northeast and Midwest if the opportunities are there. I also would tend to lean more toward somewhere to the North as opposed to the South but if there's a great city that fits more to the north than Florida, I would consider it. I prefer the big city, hustle and bustle, lots of things and places to do entertainment and social wise. I am not a country, small town person and could care less about living near any water. I do have a car, if that matters. If anyone could offer up some suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. And if there's anything I left out that might be of further assistance with suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
You could work as a legal assistant if you don't qualify.
Even though I completed my program in FL it is one of the best in the country. They schooled us in case we went to work out of state. So based on the California codes, I could definitely work as a paralegal.
How about Chicago? Tons of law firms, reasonable rents for a large city, you could work downtown or in the burbs, lots of great restaurants and things to do. Downside would be the winter weather (of course), but summer and fall are great.
Charleston sc you sound like you would love it and the humidity is not that bad , not as bad as florida . I lived in Florida for almost 20 yrs and I know the humidity there is horrible . I think you would love Charleston . check it out and see what you think .
