I plan on moving to AK in APR from TN. We plan on making several tourist stops along the way. We plan on doing limited hotels and camping at campgrounds when feasible. I would like to leave my truck and trailer in a centralized location and take our other vehicle to the tourist stops. Where would I park during the day time? Wal-Mart? Truck stops? Also having spent limited times in rv parks, do you think I could rent an rv spot for the trailer and camp in a tent as well (of course getting billed twice I would assume). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

What size truck/trailer? As for camping. I camp only in Federal or State run campgrounds and all will allow a tent with a trailer or RV. Usually they are limited by the number of people and vehicles in the site.
A lot of times, the parents will stay in a trailer and the kids get a tent at the back of the site. Or on occasion, I have seen family reunions with two or three tents in one campsite.

Get the Mile post booklet The MILEPOST: Alaska Travel Guide and Trip Planner
There are lots of places to stop, shop, fuel up in route to Alaska. Always ask but most places will let you park in their parking lot if space permits while you do your site seeing.
The mile post guide will be a big help!!!
Best of luck

At a camp ground if you utilize 2 spots you will have 2 fees but you should have plenty of room for a tent even with the truck/trailer.

A truck stop is a good place to park but not where the Semi's park, stay out of there. There are specific areas for campers or those towing boats, trailers etc. to park.

Walmart is also fine but they frown upon overnight parking, if you do utilize them be sure to park as far out in the parking lot as possible and park properly, don't park across numerous parking spots.

Side note, when I say trailer, I mean 1 8x20 cargo trailer with my household goods not a camper. Been to Ak several time, swear by The Milepost. Thanks for the thoughts everyone,
