I moved to a city that is bigger than where I used to live. This metro is smaller than the other metro though.

Has anyone made a move like this? How long did it take you to enjoy living in your new city?

The key is in making some friends and finding your "Third Place"

I usually knew beforehand that I didn't like a place, but I've had to follow the job. Only two places have been SO BAD that I got out of there ASAP. Both were in Michigan.

About sixteen months ago, I moved to Des Moines. I knew I would like the area. I now like it a lot better than I anticipated at the time. I had some difficulties last winter because of the polar vortex -- I didn't have warm enough gloves, at first -- but once the clothing problem got worked out, things got a lot better, and this winter it's more "normal," more what I'm used to, and that makes a huge difference.
