Art is differnt that other things because it is one of a kind. If broken, it's gone. It's irreplaceable, even with insurance money. Why risk it? If you like your art, crate it.

(For my move, all of my artwork moved with me...I didn't trust the movers.)

I'd crate them personally. I think it's a risk otherwise. I've had a couple of pieces crated when I moved them and IMO it was worth the money. How upset would you be if you don't crate and they're damaged?
