I called a few companies and got quotes but I am having a hard time trying to figure out who to trust and not. There are these "brokers" and then actual carriers. In my household move research I was told to be wary or rather just not deal with brokers. But there isn't much information available for auto movers. Help ?!

I'm calling this company today: Nationwide Coast to Coast Auto Transport - Golden Key Express Auto Transport

My understanding is that they are NOT a broker, which is important. It is their company doing the transporting. The price seemed reasonable, too.

Thanks for your reply.
How did you find them ? How do you make sure you found a carrier and not a broker ? Other than calling several companies and asking that as the first question.

go with new way moving services. cost me 700 to ship my dodge stratus from philadelphia to minnesota. had to pay 125 to hold it. if you go to uship.com different companies will bid on your car. the only thing i hate is that you get BOMBARDED WITH EMAILS. so when a company bids on your car, go to transportreviews.com and read about the company. if they get good reviews and the price is up your alley, TAKE IT.

uship.com and transportreviews.com

You should check the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) website, which will tell you who is a broker and who is a carrier. It also has info about safety ratings and customer complaints--definitely the go-to place for info about vehicle shipping. Even some of the big guys like Nationwide and Uship operate as brokerages in some ways so it is a bit of a gamble in that capacity. Be careful with Transport Reviews too--that's a business that offers a paid subscription that magically makes your bad reviews go away, like Yelp. A-1 Auto Transport is a good carrier I've dealt with in the past, but your mileage may vary. It's best to reach out to a handful of options and choose the best. They should all be happy to give you a free estimate.
