We're from Orange County, too. We left there in the 90's for the Mid-West and absolutely hated it there.

We wound up packing everything up again and moved to New Mexico and are very happy now and feel right at home.

There are many, many former Californians in New Mexico.

We get a little snow now and then, and some cold weather - but, nothing too bad. I don't even have a coat anymore. Just light jackets.

Lots of nice, friendly people in New Mexico. Great housing prices, wonderful smoke free restaurants and excellent shopping.
