I'm gearing up to move from northern Idaho to southern Idaho.

I've been calling the big companies, Allied, etc, and am being told they will only move you if you cross a state line.

WHAT? So if I move an hour away to Spokane Washington they'll move me, but eight hours away to Boise they won't? Makes no sense at all.

Can anyone recommend a big moving company that will do an in-state move?

A family member works for a United affiliate (in the Northeast) and they do in-state moves. They are licensed for in-state and interstate. There must be large moving company affiliates in Idaho who are also licensed for both.

Have you been calling local large-company affiliates or affiliates located in your destination (Boise) or have you been contacting general corporate offices of big companies?

I've been calling the large companies. Allied, Mayflower. Corporate offices. I should ask them about their local affiliates.

Why are you only looking at the big national companies? There are probably great "Local" (IntraState) Mom & Pop movers who would/can do the move, and it would probably be cheaper to use them since most of them have lower overhead.

If you are flexible with your move dates they may have a truck going to your area and need a back haul so you don't have to pay for a "empty" trip.

Talk to local companies both were you are coming from and where you are going (and 1/2 in between).

Talk to some of the local realtor's they might have some leads for companies in the area that do a good job doing it.
