Where to move to?
I am a 20 year old musicians who is ready to get out of the small town in Hawaii where i grew up and start my music career. I was thinking about San Francisco, but after more research I found how expensive it is. Any ideas of good cities to move to?

If your looking at a music career you should probably check out Los Angeles or Nashville. My brother moved to Nashville to get more involved in the music industry and he loves it there. I think LA might offer you a little more opportunities though.

Nashville. It's a tighter-knit community than LA and less expensive.

It depends what type of music. If it's country, than Nashville for sure. If it's rock music, it'd say metro Detroit, it's cheap overall. Rap? Maybe Atlanta. L.A. would be a choice but it's very expensive.

Mowtown! (Detroit). It is really cheap for housing. It is a bit rough in places, but right downtown is pretty cool. Most suburbs are very nice, clean and safe. Detroit and Ann Arbor have a decent music scene.
Good luck.

Chicago. big city, major local music scene, relatively inexpensive (when compared to west or east coast)

Austin has a huge music scene.
SXSW and ACL (Austin City Limits) Google it. People from all over the place come to these two huge events for Music.

I would third Austin, you dont get the title of "live music capitol" without having a huge live music scene.
