When I use Yelp to look up companies, are most of these "local agents" of the nat'l companies, or is it best to call the nat'l companies and I'm assuming they'll put me in touch with the local agent in my area (or are there multiple of these per area, of which the best needs to be chosen?)

Thanks!

Find a good reputable company.
It doesn't matter where the local office is located-they can help anywhere.

I have a great local company in Florida who helped a family member move from Wisconsin

Hope this helps.

When you submit a request to a major national van line, they direct your information to a local agent. The local agent will typically have its own name + the nat'l company name at the end. For example, Glen Ellyn Storage Corp Mayflower. You need to judge every agent by their own reputation, the major vanline association means little to nothing.

There are over 8000 moving companies in the US so many of the companies you'll find on Yelp aren't part of a major van line network. That doesn't mean independent movers are bad. In fact some are much better quality than the major van lines. Just make sure to do your research regardless.
