My boyfriend and I were wondering if we moved to a different state, would that mean that we would have to take a driving test all over again for that state, or do we simply just change our license to that of the state we're moving to?

When I've changed states I had to take a written test.

When we moved to another state, we only had to take the eye test - maybe it depends on the State? Check the state's DMV site - that should tell you what you need to know about getting your license there and if not, give your new state's DMV a call.

I just had to take the eye exam when I moved back to Florida. I guess it does depend on the state...

It varies by state, so you need to check with your destination state's DMV office. For example, if I moved from NC to NY, I could get a license without retaking the test. If I go from NY to NC, I have to retake all the tests. My wife has a CDL, so she actually has to redo that when we get to NC, which is a big deal (we don't have our own 64 passenger school bus for her to use for the road test!).

ditto, it varies from state to state. I moved to TX and only had to do an eye exam. We are getting ready to move to KS and I think an eye exam is all that is required there as well.

Definitely varies state to state, CO & MD require only the vision test but I think I had to take a written test in OH.
