I am moving from North East Pennsylvania (Scranton-WilkesBarre area) to Southern California (Los Angeles area). I have a 2 bedroom apartment full of stuff to haul. Between a 16' Penske and 22' truck, the price difference is $400. I will hire professional loaders to load and unload stuff so they can hopefully use the space efficiently.

Here are my list of stuff. Please help me if 16' will do? 22' is diesel and also has cruise control (In 16', only some models have it according to the website).

Items to Move:
1) Living room:
Sofa 3-seater
Love seat
Coffee table
End tables - 2
55" TV (I still have the box)
TV stand (contemporary 3 shelf)
Home theater system (Big tower speakers, sub woofer and stuff. Everything has boxes , so packing is easy)

2) Bed room 1:
Queen bed (headboard, footboard and mattress)
Chest (big)
Drawer (big) with mirror
2 night stands

3) Bed room 2:
Queen mattress with Box spring and Metal frame
Elliptical machine

4) Dining room:
Table (5 x 3 feet)
6 chairs
Buffet table (4x1.5 feet)

Boxes:
Large: 20
Medium: 20
Small: 20

Thank you all for your time in advance .

I would get rid of most of what you have. Unless everything you plan to take with you is an antique, it's easily replaceable. It's much easier (and less costly)to replace all of that, than to move it.

I really can't guess but when in doubt go with the bigger. Space consideration aside, it'll probably have a more powerful engine and climb hills and deal with expressways better.

Good Luck.

Take the easy way out - get rid of it all, you can get a much smaller truck which will cost you less money. Do you really need to take all of that with you? How big of a place are you moving into?

The Penske trucks are very tall inside. So I think it would all fit in the smaller one, but the larger one with cruise control will be much better to drive that distance. Its a LONG trip.

Also, you may want to thinks about other items you may have forgotten to include e.g. computer equipment? paintings or wall décor? Also, the number of boxes seems low--for bedding, clothes and a kitchen, plus décor.
