Hello all,

My parents and I will most likely be moving to Fort Worth, TX area next June, 2017.

We thought we would take a preliminary visit to the FW area in February to do some scouting of nearby towns, investigate furnished apartments, etc. so we'll have an idea of a good solid plan by June.

Just wondering if you would have any advice on what we should consider doing on this first leg of the journey.

I thought we'd also get a mailbox (such as an UPS store mailbox) so we'll have a postal address before we find the apartment.

Thank you for any advice you're willing to offer!

What is your budget for a house? This will be big factor in determining which suburbs would work.

Thanks for chiming in, C24L!

We already have some suburbs picked out (Benbrook, Burleson, Azle)... I was asking more for some tips on what I should make sure I cover while I'm there (besides scouting out those neighborhoods).

Depends on their age, are they retiring? Check out traffic, which I understand is pretty heavy in FW area, Check on close proximity of hospitals, health care, grocery stores. When I am checking out an area I go around as if I lived there not as a visitor/tourist. Also check out crime stats.
