5,844 miles; from Tokyo, Japan to Colorado Springs CO.
USAF brat ... BUT ... Was notified earlier this year that my Naturalization papers don’t exist.
Initially I laughed about it & didn’t take it seriously (Dad is ret USAF Colonel/Pentagon) But I was informed in a somewhat “cool” tone that this may result in my having to take the Oath of Allegience. I’m not quite sure how that’s going to work out. Japan is very selective regarding matters of citizenship. I have 1% Japanese DNA.
I live 60 miles from where my mother was born but she was born 6,079 miles from where her parents were born. I live 75 miles from where Dad was born.
I moved away for 6 years and came back. I live in a different city than I grew up in, but within 7 miles of every single house I've ever lived in, with the exception of those 6 years out of state as an adult.
I actually lived in one city until the age of 5, then we moved to a smaller town. I now live in the city between the two. Same county, urban and suburban, so there are many cities and towns bordering each other and close together.
Sorry, but none of the choices FIT myself! I was born in Oshawa.. BUT never lived there.. I was adopted and grew up in Etobicoke ( ON) thereafter 13 moved around. I did return to my home Province after graduating.. entered Nursing school ( basically designated at Toronto back then) then moved west.. and have lived in multiple locations but finally settled in Mississauga for past 35 years!
Point is, most do in their youngers years move about due to parental need for job related necessities! I actually lived in South Shore Montreal back in the early '60's.. and boy did I escape ASAP after graduating!!
So the question at hand>> Born in Oshawa.. now live in Mississauga.. live about 60 miles from where I was born> Talk about returning to ones root, eh?
