My family and I are moving to Colorado Springs between Oct-Dec. We currently live in North Carolina. When should we start sending out resumes?

Jaime

Hi Jamie,

The sooner the better. I think 3-5 months. However, it is still very hard to look for a job out of state unless there are very special skills. Many companies will only look for local resumes so a local address or a phone would be best.

All depends on the company and the areas.

I agree with this as well. Changing your cell phone to a "local" number helps sometimes as well.

I have been burnt when hiring people from out of state (they never actually ended up moving here) so however you can let people know that you are serious is a good thing. I am more apt to believe someone is serious if I hear that an applicant is moving for a spouse's job or something that gives me something to sink my teeth into. Best of luck to you!
