is it possible to move on probation or does anyone have any experience with this? i recently got in trouble as i was planning to move to a new city and it completely ruined my life. i kinda need to move away just to get a job again because i live in a really rural area right now and there's no way to get around or do anything on foot.

i have a city in my state that has really good public transportation and i see tons of jobs there in the field i want so i could have a job and get around really easy and i was wanting to move there anyway. i talked about moving there at the office and they said it's really easy to move around in the state as long as it's not going to another state but it sounds impossible.

i spent hours looking online and they have all kinds of crazy requirements like calling the person to ask them, i think they send an agent to stop in and check out the room and stuff ahead of time, and they might make the person sign a disclaimer saying to notify them if there's any illegal activity going on.

does all that stuff make it impossible to find housing then? i can try getting a private apartment but its crazy expensive in that city more expensive than any other city in the US pretty much. they said if i transfer my probation down there it will go from supervised to unsupervised since they dont offer courtesy supervision so i don't know if that makes it so there's less requirements or what.

Maybe I missed it, but what does your probation officer or the court that sentenced you say?

they told me that it's easy to transfer in the state but that's about it so far. they asked me for a phone number to contact where i'll be staying and i asked people about that looking for roommates and a lot of people just didn't want to do it or said they didn't want any trouble.

i went in today and talked to them and asked if i could do anything else besides having an officer talk to them and he said he would look into it and get back to me. i asked them if i could somehow prove residence where im staying after the move without having to involve people in it.

i talked to someone else about it and they said they just showed them a utility bill or something but i can't really get the apartment ahead of time unless they approve it

First, forget about what you see online or what anyone else tells you who is not your PO -- what your PO or the supervisor tells you is all that matters! Be sure that you follow his/her instructions to the letter.

I suggest that you get your job secured first and then try to find a room in a law-abiding household so that you don't get into further trouble. Then clear all that with your PO.

Then move and keep your nose clean! Get on with your life. Good luck with this process! I'm happy to hear that you want to get back to work. I truly wish you the best.

I second all of this. Best of luck to you in turning over a new leaf.
