We haven't relocated yet, but the main reasons we are relocating when we retire are because (1) we want a four-seasons climate, and (2) we want to live in a small town with so-called "traditional" values. Bedord Falls ("It's a Wonderful Life") would be perfect for us, LOL.

We will also be moving to a smaller, single-level home.

I used to live in Minnesota. Winter was half the year, and the taxes and COL was high. I relocated to Las Vegas where life is much more affordable and you don't have to shovel sunshine!

The first time I made a major move, it was to get away from my parents (Minnesota to Bakersfield, CA). Second time I moved, it was after I graduated high school and wanted a job somewhere else (Bakersfield to San Jose). Third time I moved it was because high rent drove me out (San Jose to Washington state). In between times, it seems like I moved every six months trying to find a job or a stable place to live.

Recently, I considered making a fourth major move, but decided to stay here. Whether that will be permanent, I don't know. I'd like a place to put down roots, but I'm not totally sure about this area yet. Now I'm having second thoughts about whether I should have gone someplace else. Time will tell and I'm really not losing any sleep over my decision right now.

Initially, a combination of jobs and opportunities plus the high home prices in the Los Angeles area pushed us to the Twin Cities.

Liked a lot about that area, still one of my favorite places to visit. I would be a tough sell to get either of us to move back there, though. Central coast or north of SFO once the kid is off to college, on the other hand ...

I had to relocate for work. I work in a niche field and my company was purchased and closed. We were all given the option to move to Wisconsin from NJ, but I chose to stay in the vicinity so had to move about 100 miles north to a new company. I kind of hate everything about it (job, location, distance from family, etc), but probably stuck for a few years if not longer due to wife and kids not wanting to move again. So I'll suck it up.

Turns out our previous location actually had the greener grass

Sorry. It is tough when the family is happy.

It's "in the works". Hopefully by the end of the year. Thanks for asking!
