I reserved 4 dozen moving pads from U-Haul for our cross-country move. They said $10 a dozen to rent for six days and returning the pads to a different U-Haul location at the other end of the move. Anyone used this service before and how did it go? We are not using U-Haul for the move. Actually have a U-Pack trailer.

I helped a friend move that had a lot of glass-topped tables and wooden furniture he didn't want to get scratched. Since he didn't have a lot of old blankets or towels to use to cover the items he rented the furniture pads and they worked fine for the move. I would say if you have a lot of items that you want to make sure don't get scratched or need extra padding they are worth it.

They will be useful. That's a decent price. Do it.

I had great luck with them. Remember that once a nice piece of furniture is scratched, it will be so forever unless it is totally sanded down and re-finished. Pads are cheap vs. having banged up furniture.

I've done it exactly as you described and it worked without a hitch. Keep your receipt to prove that the number you are returning is the same as the number you received at the beginning of your move. They should have it all in their system but it never hurts to have additional proof.

thanks for the replies..... i'm psyched that it should work. I probably will need to keep more than six days but they said just tell them up from and the cost will double for another six of course. But at least I will have some pads that I don't have to buy at an even bigger cost.
