I vote for mover. When we moved locally, our things didn't need to be taken apart (tables, shelves, desks, etc.)--they were just put on the truck for the 4 hour ride. When we moved from Fl to CA last year, the truck was packed to the gills and everything was taken apart and packed tight. Your belongings are on the truck a minimum of 7 days so it needs to be packed right. I'm not saying that your things are "safer" with a mover versus you yourself. But peace of mind and body -- it's just easier to spend the money. If saving money is the ultimate goal, then you probably need to do it yourself--moving is not cheap and our cross country move (including cars) was over $20K.
Thank you all for the info and suggestions.
Does anyone ever move with Pods? How this work? Will it be cheaper from mover?
