Since moving out of my parent's house (at age 17 - I'm now 34), I've probably moved around 15 times... that comes out to just under once a year! Most of those moves were in college, when I'd move at LEAST once yearly - but for the last 7 years, I've only moved 3 times. Guess I'm slowing down in my old age, LOL.

I've moved 28 times, but the last time was 8 years ago. One more time should do it and then I'm done moving.

Since we got married almost 8 years ago, we've moved 10 times and we are researching our 11th right now. And we are doing A LOT of research, because we want this to be the last move for awhile. Our oldest is in elementary school now, and it is heartbreaking to tell him that he has to change schools again. I'm hoping we can find a more permanent home for us to spend the next 17 years or so. That commitment scares me, but I love my kids too much to keep uprooting them.

Same here! My oldest son, the super-duper mover (at 8 y.o.), has had about enough. We are hoping for one more move to last us the next 10-16 years, but that is hard to believe. Since graduating high school, I have never spent more than 2 years in one town at one time (I doubled up on towns twice; the total for combined times is 3 years). I don't count moving in the same town/area, so that is 12 moves, 10 towns, and five states. My youngest had lived in 4 states before he was 2 years old (an east coast state, 2 midwest states, one western state).

The thing about moving a lot is that there is always someone else who has moved even more than you! Although I have to say that I discount in-town moves. Really, you are just changing your address and house, you still have the same friends and jobs and favorite places, etc. But I'm a bit hardcore, I think.

There's a guy at work who asks us to save him boxes 3 to 4 times a year over the past 4 years.

I don't know how he manages to do it, considering it generally costs a few thousand dollars to move anywhere around here.

I have moved 25 times give or take a couple. Most of it was while I was growing up. Over the past 20 years I have moved only once.

When I was younger I moved quite a bit, sixteen times between age 18 and 35.
AL x 3 / FL x 3 / TX x 3 / TN x 7
Once the last kid was in kindergarten we quit moving until he graduated HS. Of course the moment he graduated I up and moved again.

We moved a lot (by choice) when I was growing up, and I seem to have inherited the "wanderlust."

My parents and sister were born in NJ, and they moved to CA in 1957. I was born in Van Nuys but family home was in Saugus, then we moved from Saugus into Van Nuys. From Van Nuys we moved to Simi Valley, CA in 1967. We moved into another house in Simi in 1972 and then again to another neighborhood in 1978, where we lived when I married my first husband. From there my parents moved to yet ANOTHER house, which they just rented while they looked for another one they wanted to buy. Husband and I moved to Sepulveda, CA, then we moved back to Simi Valley, then over to Canoga Park, and then BACK to Simi Valley. In 1992 we moved our family to Higley, AZ, got divorced 3 years later. Mom and dad moved to AZ, near Apache Junction. Then I moved to Mesa, AZ, from there to Apache Junction, married my 2nd husband (a Brit) and we moved to Mesa, AZ. In 2001 we moved to England, lived there 8 years, living first in a place called West Denton, from there to Newbiggin Hall, and then back to West Denton, came back to the USA and moved to Moorpark, CA (near Simi), from there to Van Nuys, CA, and now BACK to Simi Valley, where we plan to STAY...I think!!! LOL! I've lost count. Is that 19 or 20 times?
