We've moved 10 times in 27 years of marriage. We actually lived in one house for 10 years. We've been where we are now for a bit over 4 years. Several of our moves were into temporary rentals when we were transferred, and didn't have time to find a home to purchase before we moved. Now when my husband asks me where I want to retire, I just tell, I'm tired of moving and just want to stay put.
Not counting in-town or neighboring-city moves, I've moved 9 times, with move 10 happening in 1 week. If I were to literally count every time I've moved homes, it is 21 times, going on 22. 2 states so far, and this upcoming move will be the 3rd state. Our move will be my husband's 6th state, and also the 3rd state we've lived in together during our 3 year relationship. We are both 30 and love to move to new cities, so I expect we will add many more moves to our list over the years.
We have moved with a family of four 17 times in 10 years. New York twice, Texas once, California three times, Idaho once and Hawaii three times along with several local moves in those states. Both my wife and I are the only ones in our families that move! Both of our sides have been in the same cities and homes for years having never moved anywhere. I think we just like change and to see new places....problem is when we visit somewhere, we usually end up moving there! *We are planning to move back to Maui within the next 9 months!!
Hi, this is the op writing with news... "Guess what, we're moving!" (AGAIN) We seriously need to stop buying and selling housing because it simply costs too much money.
Don't ask, this is really depressing. I always wanted to be stable, and live in the same house forever...that was my dream. It never happened. I have lived so many places, that when I called about some credit thing, and they asked for my last seven years addresses to verify who I was on the phone, I honestly could not even remember...the guy actually "prompted" me. I have moved every year for the last 12 years...for various reasons...a better job, cheaper rent, needed a larger place, a smaller place...I was thinking about staying in this apt, but the kids moved out...so, I don't want to move...but feel like I should. Moving is really expensive...even if you just do it yourself, and it is so much work! I wish my life was more stable....
I've moved quite a few times. I graduated from high school in 2000 and moved every summer between 2000 and 2008 except for 2003. I have been in the same apartment since the 2008 move but am hoping to make another in the next year or so. It gets pretty tiring. I've been in five towns in two different states.
I seriously lost count. When I read this thread I had to actually write each one down. I probably forgot a few too. But from what I remember and according to my list, I think I've moved around 15 times since I was 18 yrs old. The funny thing is, I never moved out of my home town. I've traveled here and there, spent weeks at a time in other states and cities, but I never wanted to leave Denver for good. No way.
I moved 5 times in Manchester UK before I was 21 then moved to London UK.
Then I moved 10 times within London, then moved to Hong Kong, then to Singapore and lived in 2 places there now living upstate NY. No idea where we will be moving to after our time in the US is up - we have a 20 month contract here.... could literally be anywhere...so I have 19 addresses in 4 countries.
I've moved quite a few times and I'm only 13 yet I've lived in 8 houses and 5 different countries I was born in Scarborough, on, Canada and then 3 months later I moved to bath, great Britain lol I was 3 months old and on a plane! I was in bath till I was 5 then moved to addis ababa, eithopia for a year then Lahore, Pakistan for another then Seychelles for 5 months then Vancouver, bc, Canada for 6 months and then Windsor, on, Canada for 2 years then finally here I am in new York, ny, USA in all re schools I've been to I've never known another person who has moved more than me but I'm happy to know there are others out there
