Can anyone give advice, experience, costs on shipping household items to Maui from the west coast. I am trying to make the decision to sell or ship furniture, TVS, computers, etc.

The rates fluctuate literally every day. It's impossible to give you a cost here. I worked for 18 years in the moving industry. Best thing is to get about three of them to come out and give you an estimate on what it will cost to have it all sent to Maui.

2 years ago...yes, been 2 years so you may want to check...

DGX out of Long Beach CA...they ship all the time to Hawaii, American Samoa, ...all the pacific islands. Not sure if they go to the island of Maui.

The way I think it still is..... you rent a container. You put stuff in the container. Car/boat/furniture, etc...doesn't matter. It's your container and it rents by size.

They allow so much weight per size...so if you go over you get charged.

You take the stuff to the port, do the forms...and they lock the container.

See it soon where you are.

So do a search on freightliners and such.

Good luck!

Oh, it was $3000 to ship a minivan from Long Beach to Pago Pago, AS.
