Default talk to me about very short term storage

our family is moving from Seattle to the Atlanta area next week. do to some poor planning on my husbands part we may not be able to move into our potential rental home until August 1st. we expect the moving truck to arrive by the 17th. for two weeks we need to store our things. someone suggested to pay for extra days on the truck and leave our things in it. while the idea of not having to unload and reloaded a truck sounds great i'm scarred someone will just drive off with our stuff. will probably just get a basic storage unit. has anyone ever had to store their stuff for a very short time?

Subscribing because in essence, I need the same info. I do no want to rent a place in Chicago just yet as I'd like to take my time and find the best deal. With that said, I need to store my stuff a maximum of 2 months but at a reasonable price.

See my post. I did it. Some of those types of places are month to month. Some are even week to week.

This was where I stored my stuff : (Extra space...they have locations in Atlanta....)
They had two security guys - teenagers.. they did a good job. They had 24 hour video surveilance. Had security codes for the door and the elevators. Had clean bathrooms and a coke machine. It wasn't bad. Moving to the 3rd and 4th floor was a hassle..but not a major, major one. I highly recommend not having to use elevators to store things...it just takes longer when you can't just back the truck up and start shoveling crap.

Seattle - North 130th St Self Storage Facility located in Seattle, WA

The place in Yakima was like 24 X something (or something equally as huge) and cost like 100 bucks a month. It all depends on location. (It was also not owned by the above company.)

thanks 70Ford. your post was rather entertaining but helpful. sounds a little like what we're going to have to do.

since it's such a short amount of time i think i'd be cool with one of those outdoor "garage" like rooms. just back the truck up and start shoveling sounds good to me. we don't have anything that would be ruined but a little heat. i'm going to hunt around for a week to week deal.

Its been a while, but we were in same sort of boat. We ended up renting a storage unit at the city in which we were moving too. Unloaded the things into it and then move them in to our home as time allowed. It was a pain in the butt, but it was our only choice.

I am taking it you already have your movers lined up? If not, you hear mention the success people on here have had moving using Pods I believe they call them. When a container is brought to your home, loaded or even used for storage and then moved on. Perhaps this would be a very good solution for you using this system. The pod could be your storage solution at your new location and brought to your new home when you are ready.
