My husband and I moved from Pennsylvania to the SF bay area (peninsula) about 2 years ago and regret it immensely. We love California, and it's still better that Pa, but we really wish we had researched our move better. We LOVE southern California, what a waste it was to move up here. We are big beach people and we moved here for warm weather. The beaches and weather in this area are horrible! We're saving up and doing our research and hopefully we'll be heading south within a year. Thank goodness we don't have kids and we rent!

Moved from Naples Fl -Keene NH.... HUGE mistake.. Moved in June of last year.. moving back to Naples in 6 weeks. To civilization and people who have actually left the town. Yeah we have people who have NEVER left this town.. which is small enough to fit entierly in neighborhood alone in Fla.. oopps miscalcuated this move.. Plus the weather in the NE is a drag.. less about living and more about surviving. I can't wait to get back to the beach! Just myself and my husband and we just rent, and get screwed royaly on it but live and learn I suppose

We lived in Wisconsin our whole lives. Up and moved to Iowa 4 years ago for a job promotion for my husband. Talk about regret. The only plus we have here is our house. The city we live in is boring. Unfortuntely we are almost 4 hours away from home, so trips back aren't often.

We tried to move back not long ago. Even put the house up for sale. However, it just wasn't going to happen and the house came off the market. For us, we just don't know how we'll ever be able to move back. I tell MrUW of posts on CD of people who just pack up and move. We are envy of those that can do this. Wisconsin is much more expensive to live then Iowa. We came from the Milwaukee area and the housing is too much, though we wouldn't care if we rented. Fortunetly MrUW's company is based out of Wisconsin and transfers can happen easily. We would like to end up in Appleton sometime(the main hub is there for his company). We can afford housing there, it's similar to where we are now. It will unfortunetly probably be years before we can go back.

We are trying to make the best of it here and hope something comes along sooner rather then later for us to get back.

Haven't you ever heard people say the coldest summers they've ever endured were in San Francisco? Yeah, you gotta come down here to the Southland!!!

Other than financial, I am curious what reasons people have for regretting a move to FL.

I moved to Florida and love it, however at lot of people who make very little money have been overwhelmed by the subprime issue and the increase in taxes which is the reason why many voice their negativity.

Talking Odd triggers

I lived in the midwest (Kansas,Missouri,Oklahoma) most of my life.Had anxiety attacks in Southern CA-felt overwelmed?,too many people.Moved to Morro Bay,CA. liked it,wasn't crowded-just expensive.Worst move was Topeka KS,couple of guys wandered up and set on our steps and lit up a crack pipe while we moved in .Went downhill from there.Left in 100 degree weather with 95% humidity to go to Oregon.Back to sticker shock over prices. We moved here during the drought, now can't stand the rain in fall, winter and spring. I actually miss weather-we are moving to Oklahoma.Yup,I know the weather there scares people but it was what I was raised with.My sweetie is a Long Islander who says he will never live in FL or AZ again.Neither of us can do desert, need green. Every place has a trigger for someone, some retiree is going to love my place,no snow,no sales tax on anything, moderate weather.I live very close to the city that was voted #1 in 2007? to live in.Couldn't live on coast, too cold and windy. It's only 14 miles to the ocean but much warmer here. Weird to mow grass in winter.

Ive lived in The NW Delta of Mississippi, Cocoa Florida, Williston North Dakota, Dover New Hampshire, Abbeville South Caorlina, Colchester Connecticut, Decatur Alabama and Biloxi (After Katrina) Mississippi.

Biloxi and Decatur were just places for me to stay while I looked for work. I wouldn't call Biloxi a mistake exactly, but I didn't like it too much.

I wouldn't consider anywhere I've moved to be a mistake........just to say there are certain places I've liked more.

As of late I am regretting our move. From SO Cal to Raleigh. I love it here in raleigh area but my kids just can't seem to adjust. we have weekly breakdowns (oldest son especially) with the kids after a year and a half here. The schools are so different. They have a real lack of discipline here compared to where we came from and a ton of bullying going on in the school. My kids are miserable. "If the kids aint happy mama aint happy" My Dh is oblivious and in his own little world here. He is so elated not to be commuting and sitting in traffic.
