we've done the thread about how soon did we all start to pack in preparation; but on the other hand I wondered how quickly someone has had to pack. Let's say in the event of a new job and they want you there in 2 weeks(example) How did you handle that? How large was the house you were moving from?
Just curious.
well, when i was living with my boyfriend, when we moved, we usually got the uhaul, and started packing that day and move everything into the truck. it usually only took 1 day. in this situation, it wasn't b/c we suddenly had to move, but we didn't know how to plan ahead and move. i've since tried to plan ahead, and will start following advice given on here.

I feel like we moved pretty fast. After spending forever with our house on the market (15 + months) we got an offer. Our realtor kept telling us not to count on it, not to pack (he didn't think they'd go through with it) finally about 2 and a half weeks before closing we realized we needed to get moving! 2 weeks family of 11 across country. Thank the Lord for good friends and ABF!
The fastest we ever packed was after a tornado tore apart the house in which our student apartment was located (May of 1980 in Kalamazoo, Michigan). The building was condemned but residents were allowed back in for one afternoon to retrieve any of their belongings that survived the tornado. We lucked out and were able to salvage a fair amount of stuff, and what was either beyond hope or blown over the rainbow was replaced by the Salvation Army.
That was six weeks before our wedding, by the way; an interesting start to married life! Fortunately things have been calmer since then.
I think you won and deserve to be named Grand Prize mover
Ah...but I didn't get "everything". Some stuff ended up being left behind.
