Assuming your current stuff isn't really nice or doesn't have sentimental value (I'm just guessing based on age and the fact that you're a college student) I'd consider selling at least some of your stuff and buying new (or used, but new to you) in Minneapolis.

The Twin Cities are also filled with garage sales during the summer months (and into the early fall); it seems like every neighborhood in the area has their own official neighborhood sale. They usually print fliers with all the sales listed and everything. You could probably pick up some furniture for cheap at these sales, especially things like dressers or chairs. There's also craiglis - look there for both stuff for sale as well as garage sale listings.

Yeah, I was going to say that unless your furnishings and houseware means something to you, I'd just start with all new stuff in Minnesota.
