I'm moving out to Woodland Park on June 1st so it's about time I get my moving truck reserved. I've done some quotes on line at all the obvious companys like U-haul, Ryder, etc...do any of you have any recent experience renting a moving truck...like maybe how you were able to negotiate a better deal...it's just the reality of the world in which we all live now that just about everything is negotiable. Any thoughts on which company has better base pricing?

I'm going to need a 16-17 ft truck but don't need any extras such as a dolly, rope, etc.

It's seems so far for a one way trip from Phoenix to COS it's about $800-$900.

Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions.

You are going to LOVE Woodland Park coming from PHX! I lived in that area from 1986 to 1994 and I think Woodland Park is one of Colorado's best kept secrets! If I could, I would live up there too.
Sorry I am no help with the rentals, those are the same guys I would check with too. When we looked at moving to Alaska, it was going to cost us our first born! GRIN! Good luck with the move and can't wait for you to be here!

I will stay away from Uhaul - their equipment and customer service is horrible.

Go to the post office and get a change of address kit - there is a coupon for Penske in there. They are good and so is Budget

Penske seems to be a little cheaper than budget. We drove from mass to va (so 500+ miles) and we had no problems with penske. Also we got a discount because we had triple A. i would also stay away from u haul. They are more expensive and when used in the past the truck borke down twice (on 2 different ocassions) and the customer service was lacking

we used Uhaul and had good service. We needed the largest truck available; and theirs have the lower entry height and ramp. So for us it was all good

We've moved twice within the last year. The first time we used Uhaul and everything went great. The second time we used Budget and it was NIGHTMARE. So much so that we returned the Budget truck and found a last minute Uhaul the morning of the move. Budget tacked on lots of frou frou extra charges that they do not disclose at the time of reservation.

These have been my experiences, but I know that some people like Budget. If there is minimal cost difference and you have to choose between Budget and Uhaul, I would go with Uhaul hands down.
