What if auto transport driver MIA with my car and doesn't deliver?
I hope this doesn't happen, but if it does I need to know all available options.
I just moved from CA to TX. Had an auto transport relocate my car. Paid him upfront before moving. Expected date of delivery between May 23 to May 25 per the order. Tried calling the driver several times over the last 24 hours and left two messages. He never called me back. Wasn't sure if he will deliver my car. Am considering contacting the authorities after May 25 (Memorial Day). Question is: which authorities? Thank you.
p.s. I understand that its difficult to answer/check the phone while on the road. But the guy's only human. He has to stop for gas, rest and/or sleep. Thus, he can check messages.

It's only the 23rd and the transport company has insurance. And you are right, cell coverage is very spotty in many areas. Relax and don't worry. He/she probably stopped off to do some drinking and gambling, knowing that he/she has until the 25th. Hopefully he/she won't gamble away your vehicle. (JK!)
If you have heard nothing by the 26th, call the transport company.

Cell phone service in parts of Arizona, New Mexico and west Texas is horrible at best. The company still has a couple of days to deliver your vehicle according to your post. Their agreement probably doesn't require the driver to check messages and return calls at each rest stop. HIF is right. If you haven't seen your vehicle by the 26th, call the company and request a call from the driver with an updated ETA.

If the driver doesn't answer, call the company office. Someone must know where your car is.
I had two cars moved across country. The company gave me a shipping number, and I could go online to their site, punch in the number, and it showed exactly where the truck was every minute of every day..
I had one car shipped from Florida to California. They said one to three weeks. At the end of the first week, it still hadn't left the home port. They wait until the transport truck has a full load before they leave.
Once they left, they were here in under three days, one week early. Two drivers, non stop.
Too late now, but next time deal with a company that is in the computer age...

I happened to meet the driver while on the road Friday. I overtook him. We waved. He had another car on him in addition to mine. I can only assume he went to deliver the other car first (wherever that is) before going to mine. I do have the driver's contact info, including description of him, his vehicle and his passenger assistant.
The contract is COD. Since he hasn't yet delivered, I can stop the check payment without breaching anything.

It's only the 24th, what the heck are you stressing about? You're worried that he's taking off with your car when the delivery isn't even late yet.
Chill, and enjoy the weekend.

COD and you paid before he even started.I'd examine the contract since it probably includes a clause on certain delays. I would just relax and stop the fretting. If you stop payment bet he tells you to go to court to get your vehicle and puts a lean on it.

Yep. He called back the day after. Apparently, he don't work on weekends. Should have told me that when he picked up my car the previous weekend!

Use Dependable Auto Shippers. They have been in business for years and are very reputable. I used them for a cross country trip. Had no problems with getting my car. But then again, my car is a Daewoo so, probably no one would want to steal it anyway.
