wawben is on a distinguished road
Hi, I do not see the other thread related to this except for one about starting an online quoting service as a business venture. If you are looking for moving quotes do not fill out anything online. I worked in moving sales for years and I know this not to be a good idea. The services you speak of provide your information to movers all over the country. You will not just get e-mailed quotes back. 6 to 8 companies will call you over and over - this is hard-sell type stuff. They will quote you unrealistic prices over the phone and then rip you off when they get there.

Especially if you are moving over state lines, the best way to get your quotes is to choose between 3 and 5 companies with offices in your area. They need to come to your home and give you an estimate in person. Do not hire out of state movers that you never met no matter what they promise you. Even in-home estimates are just that - estimates. The price can go up - read the fine print. Do not just compare the prices given to you - compare the estimated size the price is based on and the rate per pound or square foot. Also, do some resaerch online for reviews of the companies you call. I can not speak for every moving company but from my experience the vast majority of them are not honest. Be careful.

I've moved several times in my life and know that the moving companies are dishonest, which is why the glowing report I heard about this service had me interested. But I suppose it is chancy. I'll skip it - thanks for the advice!
