...And to the pets. I know they can get scared or even car sick and miserable.
We'll be moving from NJ to FL in November with four dogs and three parrots. I'll have them in the minivan with me (the parrots in travel cages on the middle seat, and the dogs in the very back with a grate as a divider to keep them there), and my husband will have other things in his SUV.
My problem is, the dogs associate the car with the vet -- and one of our parrots gets carsick. We hope to drive straight through with frequent rest stops (no motel will allow us in with that menagerie), taking short naps in the cars.
Good luck and I'm so glad you found a driver. I lucked out that we had a truck and trailer loaned to us but would have been stuck with a 26ft truck to get a backseat otherwise. Of course you can take a LOT of stuff that way lol.
Your probably packing and still doing that last minute sort right now. One bit of advise about moving... make sure your helpers don't get so hyper that they forget what to put on the truck. I left with my exercise bike sitting out for adoption since the volunteer helpers were soooo enthusiastic they forgot to put it in and by then there wasn't any room.
My exercise bike is still sitting in the garage - and it may still be sitting there when we leave! I'm beginning to think 26' wasn't enough! It's going to be a long night tonight - but once we're on the road Poor dogs haven't got a clue what's going on, there's no furniture for them to sleep on.
Got a late start yesterday and we're heading for Twin Falls now.
