What would be the best time of year to move across the country? I would be moving from Southern California to Southern Maine. (Yeah, like I said across the country  ) I would be taking what's left of Route 66 (ie, I-40) through Arizona New Mexico, and the Texas panhandle and up through Oklahoma, go through a corner of Kansas and then through Missouri and Illinois to Chicago and then across Indiana and Ohio to Pensylvania and up through Conneticut and right up to Southern Maine.

But I'm just wondering what the best time of the year would be to go? Like any partifular months?

Oh I don't know if this'll make a difference but I'll be taking a good week in a half to go across, only driving 5-6 hours a day (I don't drive long distances easily) I'll also be stopping for a day in Chigaco and going to church with family. (If I'm there on a Sunday.)

Summer, of course. Do really think Winter is the answer?

I'm going for early fall. October. Summer's too hot; Hotels are often full & gas stations seem further apart. There're too many of those humungous RVs & travel trailers clogging up the road - they only go about 25 miles per hour.

If your intent is to do a little bit of sightseeing, summer or fall is a good bet. You're only driving 5-6 hours a day, so it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Spring. You transition over the summer and fall into winter.

Good question. I am moving from Ohio to Hoboken, NJ. We are planning to move in Feb of this year. I think that fall, turning into spring is the best time. You get to see your new home change and grow. Cheesy, I know. Good luck!
