We moved to Tennessee 2 years ago and used ABF and it ran us about $3,500.00 and it worked out real good.

Well we now want to move back (Long Story) but this time I am thinking about using U-Haul, or Penske and renting a BIG truck....

Does anyone know what it would cost to move from Nashville to Sacramento?
1-way.......

Thanks

What did U-Haul and Penske say when you called them and asked?

Hi LeeB; we're in TN also and are in the process of trying to move back west. I got online to a couple of Rentals and I was able to put in info on what size truck etc to get a ball park figure. I know Uhaul has it available on their website. Hope this helps. And it is so much cheaper to do it this way than ABF.

Budget, Penske and UHaul all have online quote systems. Just enter your information and they'll give you a price. Pricing can vary based on the day of the week/month you wish to move and origin/destination cities.

After you get your quote call them on the phone and ask if there are any discount one-way rentals. When we have to rent a one-way rental, sometimes if we pickup the truck from another city we get a smoking rate.
Some years ago, using U-haul, we would go to Arizona or Nevada and the one-ways back east were practically free. So many people were doing one-ways from the east to Phoenix and LV that they had a glut of trucks in those cities and were short truck in the east. We once paid $200 to go from Phoenix to New Jersey, thats how much they wanted the truck out of the SW back to the east. They wont tell you about these deals unless you ask.

I would be willing to bet that it is direction related. More people moving FROM LAS VEGAS. So they are short on trucks in Vegas..
