We used Penske last time, and we were pleased with them...the fuel mileage was kind of not great, but the truck was in great shape and worked very well.
The decks are very high, though.

I wanted to get some input from others for long distance moves. I'm not crazy about U-haul...we had trouble wtih them before and I'm not so sure I'm comfortable with them for a long distance move.

any thoughts?

Ryder does not do one ways. Budget would be the only other I'd recommend. I use Penske. I don't think you can get away from the sucky mileage deal. Stay away from UHAUL!!

Many people say that Pensky has been the best for clean, well maintained truck. That is true. UHaul does not have the same mostly because they rent them so often. I have had good luck with UHaul but maybe I know some of the ropes. For long distance one-way move, I deal direct with the rental center. They are much more likely to know what truck is what and where over the central call center. When i have a long distance move, they seem to always get a new clean truck for me. At times they may ask if I can wait a day or two so that I do get a new truck. Also if you know where their regional center is located, you have a much better chance to get a better truck from that location.
