I think we need to think this through a bit and not be too critical.

There are folks out there who just do not have the time or the skills to transform an empty house into a nice, organized home. They might not have the tools, or the know how.

Some jobs now are quite demanding of time and energy. Folks newly moved may be overwhelmed with the new location, job, etc.....Some people move because of divorce, and are just too spent to take on the task, especially if they have few friends.

We used to call this home settling in, "Needing a woman's touch".

I don't think we should be so judgmental......we are usually nicer then that here.

Frank

Frank, I was not being hurtful...the OP has not posted again so my thinking it might be a troll....but I do hope he/she is able to get their house unpacked...and maybe they have the resources to hire it out..I hope it works out for them, the last thing I want to sound is hurtful

I always find it helpful to sit back for a bit and take in the space. Get a feel for how the rooms are at different times of the day/night. Then pick your paint colors around your things. Pictures will happen as well when you find the right wall for the picture. We have wasted a lot of paint charging ahead of ourselves in the past. I am still moving furniture around after 5 years. LOL

For we guys, it's pretty simple.

Put it all somewhere then leave it alone.

Hire an assistant, even part-time. She or he will do whatever needs to be done whether it's disposing of cardboard boxes, organizing a closet, etc. Ask your realtor for referrels or how to get started. Good luck!
