I'm making a move from FL to TN and am really interested in using a Pod-like moving system. When I was buying boxes at UHaul, I saw their U-Box. Smaller than the PODS but you can use multiple ones. Pricing wise it seems a *much* better deal than PODS. Was just wondering if anyone had anyone first hand knowledge of using U-Boxes.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't but thank you for mentioning them. They look MUCH cheaper then other similar things I have seen. I hope to find out how much the delivery would be on top of the monthly storage fee as we plan on moving from Mo to Ca in the next 12 months.

Cherry Heart - if you go to the Uhaul website and search for U-Boxes they have a place where it says "Deliver empty U-Box to." If you put in your info, it will take you to where you can see how much everything will be. For me going from FL to TN, the breakdown was something like an $80 fee to deliver the boxes to my property, $59.95 per box a month rental (I am thinking of using 4), something around $900 for them to pick up and deliver all 4 boxes to TN, and then there's another $80 delivery fee for them to take the boxes away.

That was something like $600 cheaper than any other pod service I found. I was worried that the U-Boxes might be shoddy. I went to my local U-Haul store to check it out and I was quite happy with it. It's very sturdy wood and it's covered in a tarp like thing. Ok, that sounds shoddy, but I swear it isn't LOL

I had no idea they had such a service. Even when I went to U-Haul the first time to buy boxes I walked right by it not knowing what it was. It was only because I was talking to the gal working there about moving and going the PODS route and she was like, oh hey, have you heard of U-Boxes? I'm surprised they don't advertise more.

I just looked up how much my move would be, and for 3 u-boxes it would be $3,000 from Mo to Ca. Not the cheapest quote I have found for our specific move. I am glad it is working for you though. Good luck
